The Bachelor of Science in Business Administration (BSBA) is a three-year (9 semester/123 credit hours) undergraduate program offered through AGSB's Institute of Undergraduate Business Studies. Our students have the added advantages of a strong foreign language element, small class sizes for optimum personal interaction and a truly international student body and faculty. In the BSBA program, students normally take five courses (15 semester credit hours) per semester.
ACC 201 Principles of Accounting I
A study of the principles of accounting. Topics include: the basic business enterprise, balance sheets and income statements, systems and controls, income measurement, control of receivables and inventory, plant and equipment.
ACC 202 Principles of Accounting II
A continuation of Principles of Accounting I including business formation, dividends and earnings, debt and investment, financial analysis and reporting, cost accounting and capital budgeting.
ACC 310 Managerial Accounting
An introduction to the use of accounting information in the internal and external analytic and decision-making functions of management.
CIS 102 Introduction to Computers
A study of computer and programming concepts and algorithm development. Includes the construction and implementation of programs using structured programming techniques and a high-level language.
CIS 202 Management Information Systems
A study of the purpose, development, design, and implementation of management information systems with an introduction to the terminology, concepts and trends in computer hardware and software.
ECO 101 Principles of Microeconomics
The theory of the firm, including supply and demand concepts, pricing under competition and monopoly, capital and wage theory, externalities.
ECO 102 Principles of Macroeconomics
Theory of national income, equilibrium and fluctuations, monetary and fiscal policy. Includes a coverage of unemployment and poverty.
FIN 304 Introduction to Business Finance
An introduction to the field of finance, including financial management, investment analysis and financial institutions and markets. Emphasis is on financial management at the level of the organization.
LAW 230 Business and the Legal System
An overview of the role of law and key legal concepts such as code vs common law, contracts, antitrust, employer obligations and other legal issues.
MAT 110 Business Mathematics
To acquire an active understanding and involvement in applied mathematics in the business and financial environment, through examples supplemented by spreadsheet software. Topical areas include payroll and payroll taxes, simple and compound interest, depreciation methods, etc.
MAT 325 Business Statistics
A basic and practical course in the use of descriptive and inferential statistics methods in business and management applications. Course content focuses on application of appropriate statistical measures, methods and tests in the business context. Added emphasis will be on the potentialities of computer software for statistical data analysis and the decision-making interpretative results.
MGT 210 Business and Society
The relationship of business to world society. Subjects covered include: social responsibility of business, consumerism, environmental issues, labor relations, including minorities and the cultural environment of business.
MGT 305 Principles of Management
Fundamentals of staff and operative management including the functions of planning, staffing, leading, organizing and controlling. Emphasis is on the process of management as it involves concepts, behavior and practices.
MGT 330 Human Resource Management
Organization and policy in personnel activities. Topics include: the labor force and labor markets, industrial personnel and manpower programs.
MGT 350 Operations Management
A study of the operations function in organizations with an examination of problems and their solutions. Topics include: process selection, forecasting, aggregate planning and project management.
MGT 450-460 Topics in Management
Topics vary by semester and may include: Industrial Relations, International Business Negotiations, International Management, Logistics, Small Business Management, etc.
MKT 307 Principles of Marketing
Principles, methods, and trends of marketing with emphasis on the marketing concept and the marketing mix in relation to the environment of the organization. Includes an in-depth examination of the product, price, distribution, and promotional variables.
MKT 329 Research Methodology
An overall examination of the role of research in business. Emphasis is on research and questionnaire design in marketing as well as critical assessments of published research.
MKT 450-460 Topics in Marketing
Topics vary by semester and may include: Consumer Behavior, E-Business, International Marketing, Marketing Management, Market Targeting, Promotion, Public Relations and Advertising, etc.
SFI 490 Strategy Formulation and Implementation
An examination of the relationships between strategy formulation, tactics, policy-making and organizational control. Corporate ethics and social responsibility are investigated.
Individuals with non-business undergraduate degrees or business graduates who are deficient in certain disciplines have the opportunity to take one or all of the foundation courses. AGSB's pre-MBA/GBS program may be taken as a certificate program with or without continuation into the MBA program. It is recommended that students planning to continue into the MBA program begin foreign language studies.
CC 520-521 Accounting Fundamentals (6)
A survey of elementary accounting concepts emphasizing financial statements, income determination, and budgeting. This course is cross listed with ACC 201 and 202.
ECO 510-511 Elements of Economics (6)
Basic concepts of elementary micro- and macroeconomic theory, including concepts of demand and supply, costs of production, market equilibrium, monetary and fiscal policy. This course is cross listed with ECO 101 and 102.
FIN 550 Fundamentals of Finance (3)
A course covering managerial applications of finance, such as financial planning, ratio analysis, time value of money, sources and costs of capital. This course is cross listed with FIN 304.
MAT 560-561 Decision Mathematics (6)
A survey of basic algebra and calculus necessary for making business decisions, including solutions of linear and quadratic equations, systems of equations, maximization and minimization theory, and techniques of integration. This course is cross listed with MAT 110 and 210.
MAT 570-571 Statistical Analysis (6)
A course covering descriptive and inferential statistics: data presentation, measures of central tendency and dispersion, probability distributions, hypothesis testing, and regression analysis. This course is cross listed with MAT 325.
MGT 540 Principles of Management (3)
A study of the role of the manager in today's organizations, including leadership, organizing, planning, staffing, and controlling. This course is cross listed with MGT 305.
MKT 530 Principles of Marketing (3)
The interrelationship of marketing and society with special emphasis on the decision-making processes of target market selection and product, price, distribution, and promotion determination. This course is cross listed with MKT 307.
AGSB's Master of Business Administration (MBA) program emphasizes a global perspective in business and draws on the expertise of business and government leaders in preparing students for the interactive environment of the 21st century. Courses are taught in English through lectures, case analyses and seminars by dedicated faculty with extensive international experience.In proximity to many leading multinational companies, AGSB's environment provides a unique combination of business studies and Swiss cultural dynamics.

ACC 620 Financial and Managerial Accounting
The course covers the essentials of accounting as an information system, developing an understanding of the business enterprise and the necessary financial statements such as balance sheet-income statement, cash flow statement as well as financial statement analysis.
CIS 670 IS Project Management
Technical issues of project management are addressed as they relate to a wide range of businesses and industries. Theoretical presentations and real-life examples are interwoven throughout the course.
ECO 610 International Business Economics
A survey of economic tools and analyses available to the international business manager, e.g., pricing, forecasting, demand analysis, macroeconomic policy as it affects the international organization.
FIN 680 International Finance
An analysis of practices and issues in international finance, including foreign exchange markets, international investment decisions, currency considerations and international capital asset pricing.
INT 699 Project Internship
A three to six month internship in which the student is involved in the normal business operations of an organization. The nature of the internship is defined prior to a student's placement with the organization and may be carried out in any country worldwide. The student must submit periodic reports and a final Thesis Project Document, covering an in-depth company and industry analysis relating to the internship. At the conclusion of the internship and once the document has been approved by the Thesis Project Director, students must return to campus to present and defend their work.
LAW 630 International Business: The Legal Context
The course introduces students to the major legal issues and problems the manager will encounter in the field of international trade. These range from the types, forms and contents of international contracts to the business decisions arising from the need to adapt to the legal environments in the markets.
MAT 660 Decision Theory
An introduction to several management science models and methods applied to both the rational managerial decision-making process and the quantitative business decision analysis. Selected quantitative models for improved assessments and decisions in the business context and potentialities of computer software to enhance the models capabilities will be addressed.
MGT 640 International Management
An integration of all international organizational processes with emphasis on socio-cultural and ethical factors; an examination of major policy and operational questions facing international firms today.
MKT 650 International Marketing
A study of the decision-maker's process in producing marketing strategy consistent with different environments characterized by varying consumer behavior patterns and institutions.
STS 690 Special Topics Seminar
An integration and application of coursework through a participative approach, which includes the introduction of advanced topics with an examination of existing literature, and with the participation of leaders from the business and government community. Field trips are an integral part of this course.
STS 691-699 Special Topics Series
Advanced topics courses offered in the MBA program as elective credit. The Special Topics Series includes Human Resource Management, International Organizations, Research Methodology, Strategy Formulation and Implementation, and Topics in International Relations, Management, and Marketing.

AGSB's seminar-based program is aimed at professionals active within an existing business environment. Thus it addresses companies' managerial development needs with a flexible and progressive curriculum. Graduates of this program are able to apply their newly acquired classroom knowledge in a relevant business environment.
Course objectives are designed to make optimal use of the participants' existing business experience by engaging them in conceptual discussions and simulated case studies. AGSB's faculty has sector specific skills and business experience allowing to apply up-to-date and relevant knowledge in an effective learning environment with a team-based approach.
